A trip to the moon is a show dedicated to the moon, which combines two important art forms: music and cinema. The show begins with the live screening and soundproofing of the short film Le Voyage dans la Lune (1902), by G. Melies. The film, screened in its color version, is accompanied by the Billi Brass Quintet with an unreleased soundtrack composed exclusively for the group by David Short (former first trumpet orchestra of the RAI in Rome). The screening is followed by a brief historical and scientific speech by Professor Alessandro Marchini, head of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Siena. The evening ends with a dreamy musical itinerary, performed by the Billi Brass Quintet and accompanied by the projection of images of the moon captured live by the Siena Observatory, which therefore sees the Moon as the protagonist and ranges from “classical” music to jazz to rock, pop and the soundtracks of great cinema.
